- John Isac Herd lived in the Parish of Belgooly. He possessed a large estate in that district and also an estate in Ballydaley in the Parish of Kinsale. He was a cruel Landlord and was a Cromwellian.
There are several stories told of his deeds. He had a gardner working for him whose name was Brown. This gardner murdered some one himself. So John Isac took the law in his own hands and hung the gardner. When he(continues on next page)
