  1. Once upon a time a big ship became a wreck. It happened one fine Summer's day. It had a carago of flour. The name of the ship was "The Victoria Cross" It is about fifty years ago. All the cliffs from Reagrove to Rockybay were covered with flour. There were no lives lost.
    There was a light-ship lost about forty years ago. It was called "The Puffin" It was a bad, wet, stormy night. There was a crew of eight or nine men on board. All the lives were lost. It was thought after that another ship ran over her, but nobody was sure. The light-ship was situated near Daunt's Rock.
    Long ago a ship was going from Queenstown to some foreign country. It had a big carago of fat meat. She got wrecked at Daunt's Rock. She struck against the rock and went down. The name of the ship was "The City of New-York" The ship was wrecked in the year 1840.
