  1. In olden times people generally ate three meals a day. The meals were breakfast dinner and supper. Breakfast was eaten about nine o'clock in the morning, dinner was eaten about twelve o'clock and supper was eaten about eight o'clock. Farmers and labourers started work about six a.m. For the greater portion of the year each meal consisted solely of potatoes In May, June and July when potatoes were scarce stirabout was used for breakfast and supper. Stirabout consisted of Indian meal boiled in water and served with milk. New milk was drunk by those who could afford it and skimmed milk by the poorer people. Where the family and employes were large the table was placed in the centre of the floor and all sat round it Tables were hung against the wall where place was very limited. The bread that was eaten was Oneway. Oneway breaad was made of ground wheat mixed with sour milk and
