  1. In olden times boots were little worn especially by the poor and some people never wore a boot from the day they were born to the day they died. Even the farmer wives never wore a boot in summer or winter and went to Mass barefoot. One woman was known to live to be 113 years and she never wore a boot or shoe. Her name was Ellen Creedon, [?], Gneeves, Millstreet.
The same can be said of another woman named Margaret Cronin, Claramore, Millstreet.
She worked during the greater part of her life for Mr. Leader of Mount Leader, Millstreet, and was often seen pulling turnips in frost and snow without a boot.
