  1. Coachford was famous for crochet making in the past. They used to sit on the road side and knit away for hours. They used to earn their living by it. They sold it to the local ladies and sent the remainder to England, where they got a big price for it. It is about thirty years ago since they gave it up. The most of those who worked at it are dead now. (1938)
