  1. A rainbow in the morning is a shepherd's warning. A rainbow at night is a shepherds delight.
    If a cat when at the fire turns his back to it, it fortells rain.
    When the flames of burning coals turn to violet it is also a sign of rain.
    An early sun on a frosty morning betokens rain.
    Crows flying low is a sign of approaching storm.
    Slugs and and ants are to be seen parading roads and fields before rain, and ducks leave the water and become very noisy.
    Flying geese are supposed to be a sure sign of bad weather.
    If during a storm at sea a sailor sees as much blue in the sky as would cover the top of his cap he knows that his fears will soon be over.
