Then he would lie down on the back of the chair, his sofa, waiting for the good people to come in. He'd then hum the tune of the buzzing bee by the way that he was amusing them. Then the following day he would start for another friend's house and he had an imagination (?) that if he met a woman first in the morning he would have no luck for that day and if he did he would return to the house where he had slept the previous night. There was a Mr's Murphy living in Tureen a grandmother to Thady Bettie Murphy. She had four daughters and she would put one of them on each road before him and keep 'moced' (?) {"mocked" (?) as cattle DÓM.} in one house for a month. Then he would steal away in the middle of the night. He had a
