The best thatchers were:- Jim "Matt" Daly of Nohival, Tade Shine of Gloungriskeen, Jerry Kelleher and Paddy Connor. The latter was thatching from Kanturk to Killarney at one time. The best wheel-wright was Michael Kelleher of Knocknagree. He made a pair of wheels which lasted for 40 years.Re-digging;
There used be garden in the field the year before. They opened out the ridge along the cut and threw in a sgiolán and then pounded it down with a spade. They opened the second cut and put in a sgiolán and pounded it. They opened the third cut and did the same and pounded it over again.
