    There was no accomodation in the village for buyers and they had to stay in farmers' houses, therefore the buyers were not coming there. Cronin Coltsman gave plots of ground free to any one that would build a house. He also gave them licence for a public-house and asked for no ground rent except fifteen shillings a year for fifty years. He gave them timber free but they had to bring it from his castle in Killarney. The first houses that were built, were built with forest timber because there was no deal then. The first man who built a house under this scheme was Daniel Cronin and he got an acre of land with it in Michael Reen's farm. The second man was Eugene Cronin commonly called Cronin "the gardener". It was built in John Herlihy's farm where Michael
