The FOLAC FIAIDH FIELD Which means "The cooking of the deer". In this field there was a Folac Fiaidh and beside it there is a spring well of pure water which never runs dry.
There is a tree in the townland of Coolclougher known as "THE PEELER'S" TREE so called because in the Land league days, two "Peelers" used to stand for shelter under it while on duty.
COOLCLOUGHER where I live means the comfortable corner, MAULE means a '"hillock" BALLYHOULIHAN = the home of the O'Houlihan. LATARN = half a division of of land. LOMANAAGH = the bare hill place. DROMSCORRA means the ridge of parting. DERRISHAL means a low oak wood KEELNAHULLA means the church of the holy Oils. ISLANDAVE means the marshy hill TUREENAVISCANE means the boggy pasture land GURRANE means the Shrubbery. KELLETRA means the earthy Church MOHER means the cluster of bushes.
