   It grows in very shady lands and it would kill every animal who would eat it except the goat.

   The crows-foot is called the buttercup around here. It is fairly plentiful around here. The buttercup grows in shady places. Birds eat the seeds of the hemlock and it does them no harm. Goats also eat the leaves but three drops of the sap in a saucer of milk will (-) a cat.

   There are two varieties of furze or gorse growing here. One is called the "Aitinín Gaolach" and the other is called Aitinín Galldach. Formerly this plant was cut with a scythe when up to two years of age and crushed with mallets and given to horse that worked hard all day. It was said to be very good food.

   Groundsel is a weed which is an annual. It spreads by seed. It is given at certain times to finches and other cage birds. The heads of thistles and heads of dandelions after flowering are also food for finches.

   There is a nice plant with alternate stems (?) growing out from the main one. It has a lovely flower pink in colour and is called Dreimire Mhuire. The Honeysuckle is called "Lady Fingers".
