- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)child in different classes and no two had the same books.The pupils used to have a stick tied around their necks and if the child spoke Irish in the schools the master would cut a notch on the stick and when the child would go home the father would look at the stick and he would see it was cut and if the child spoke Irish at home the father would cut a notch and next day the teacher would hit the child with the stick.Long ago they used to write with a quill out of a wing on a piece of paper.The present school is in the townland of Ballyhass was built by Lady Elizabeth O'Neill; she also built Ballygraddy and Liscarrol schools.
