- The famous Castle builder after whom Rathgobane Castle and ruins and townland are called
This legend was told by Mr. R. R. Brash Cork in "Ecclesiastical Architecture of Ireland" 1875.The Gobán Saor was a wonderful man: he could build a caher, a bridge, a castle, or a round tower in wonderful style, he could forge a shield or a helmet and make the finest swords and spears and any man livin' nothin' was beyond him. He lived at Rathgobane in the old castle there that is 'twas wanst a castle but this nothin' now but a few relics as walls. You will see it not far from the road on yer right hand side as you go down to Lisgoold. Tis a lone and drairy plaice enuff now but believe me tis it(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
