- There is an old ruined castle at the east end of the town called Wilmont Castle.In Barrack Street are the ruins of the old police barracks which were destroyed by the Black and Tans. The military hospital was set on fire at the same time by the rebels.
The ruins of an old church are in the Old church graveyard and that's how it got it name.
There is an old castle at Belvelly it was owned by the Mac Carthys and from that castle there is an underground passage to the old tower about 50 yards away. There is a smothering hole in the castle
