- From 1923 to 1929 the Free State Govt. continued the Free Launches from Haulbowline to the mainland. They had three boats on the service - the S.L. 51, S.L. 190 and S.L. 199.
In September 1929, a Cobh man took over the ferry service using two motor-boats - the M.L. “Flora” and a converted life boat.
It was not considered satisfactory as the headquarters were in Cobh.
In 1930 Messrs Fitzpatrick and Codd started another Ferry Service. They took over the Mast House from the Govt. and developed a boat repairing and Yacht Storage Depot.
