"Twas of my own accord I came" "Then you must single him out from among my pages," said the giant, "and if you fix on the wrong one you shall lose your life. Follow me".
He led Robin into a very long hall. At each side were rows of children, all seven years old and none older, dressed in green. "You are free to take Philip, but I give you but one choice," said the giant. Robin was puzzled as there were hundreds of other children, and he did not know Philip very well. Robin began to praise the children to the giant saying to him how healthy they looked, even though they were shut in from the fresh air. "That is true," said the giant, "you are an honest blacksmith, give me your hand." Robin stretched forth the plough iron which the giant seized. On seeing this the children laughed and Robin heard his name called. "Let me live or die but this young Phil Ronayne." "It is I" said the young lad. Then all became dark, but Robin held his prize and found himself in the dawn of the morning with the boy clapsed in his arms.- Bailitheoir
