“The "Lios Cross" is so called because of an old "Lios" which is situated there...”
The "Lios Cross" is so called because of an old "Lios" which is situated there. The "Lios" is called "Lios Diarmuida" because tradition states "Diarmuid" and "Grania" sought refuge there during there flight from "Fionn"
The "Lios" commands a fine view of the surrounding country and must have been an important fort. It consists of two mounds the remains of which are still quite distinguishable. These old roads have long fallen into disuse and are a relic of the past when "Éire" was not blessed with the gifts she now enjoys but perhaps undervalues.- Bailitheoir
