One held in Goat's St., longside Tubrid House under the care of John O'Brien. The other conducted by Nicholas Cree in the plot where present principal teacher has built her residence. He was brought here by the landlord Samuel Frederick Dixon from near Limerick. Fifty pupils occupied a one roomed thatched cabin every day. They sat on "Bosses", square blocks cut from the upper surface of the bog and dried. Two small maps 1½' x 1' adorned the walls. Fee 1d per pupil per week.- Faisnéiseoir
