- Certain days of the week are lucky and some are unlucky. Saturday is a lucky day for gathering herbs for ailments, but an unlucky day for common work as it is an old saying "Saturday's" work is never done. Ashes should not be thrown out before twelve o'clock on Monday morning for it is said that one would be thrown out their luck. It is also said that if a person gave out money on Monday he would be giving it out for the week. Monday is an unlucky day for starting to build houses and ploughing and changing lodgings or for commencing work and has been always observed as a shoe makers holiday.
Tuesday is a lucky day for getting married and for cutting out clothes.
