“There are Fairy Forts in the school district and the one I know is Elmhill Fort.”
Mary Ahern,
Coolybrown,
Ardagh,
Co. Limerick. There are fairy forts in the school district, and the one I know is Elmhill fort. There is an entrance hole leading in to it, and it is circular in shape. There is a story attached to this fort. Long ago there were people living in a house near the fort. They used to throw the water in front of the door and things used be happening to them. One day a woman appeared to them and told them not to throw the water there again, but to carry it a good distance from the house and nothing would befall them for ever more. Then the woman disappeared and the people of the house never threw the water there again, but they carried it a good distance form the house.Told to me by my grandmother.
