    Every evening as father ties in the cows he ties a chain round each of their necks. Some tying are made from rope. Generally over every cabin door there is a horse-shoe as a sign of luck to the cows. As mother milks the cows she hums an air of a song, as the cow yields her milk better when she hears the music. The richest of the milk is the stripping & that is used for tea.
