Men generally foot turf but sometimes women foot it too. Four sods are put standing against each other and one sod on top to keep it firm this is called a "cricóg". After about another week the turf is knock down and second-footed. This time twelve or thirteen sods are put standing against each other and sometimes more if the turf is dry enough.
