    was the following which was written for a St Patrick's Day parade in Washington. it was set to music as given overleaf. I got the poem and music from his sister - in -law.

    The Shamrock
    In every mile of Erin's Isle.
    A million shamrocks grow.
    And everyone will bring a smile
    To faces all aglow
    With pure love, for the Saint above
    Who blessed this floweret here,
    The symbol of the Trinity
    The little shamrock dear.
    The pagan Chief quit his belief
    Then Patrick showed to him
    The trefoil of the sainted sod' -
    Three leaves, upon one stem
    His head he bowed before the crowd
