- About two miles and a half from the town of Rathkeale there is a fort and the owner of it is Mr Keating. It is at the left hand side of the road leading on to Croagh. It is a very big fort and there is a big drain all round it and fairies are said to be in it.
One night there was a man named John Lynch coming in from Croagh and as he came near the for he heard all kinds of musical instruments playing in the fort. He was riding a donkey and when he came to the fort the donkey stopped and would not go any further. He had to pull the donkey apast the fort and when he got apast it the donkey did not stop running until he landed in Rathkeale. The man was in bed for a week after.- Bailitheoir
