   from Beigh Castle to Beigh Church. Another disused road led from Shiers through Downes's and Wilmot's farms to the church hill. It is now used as a passager.

   An old passage, no longer visible, led from the "Randy" bridge on the Askeaton road through Mr Westropps field, and Sheehys garden to Mr Westropps residence. It was a private passage but was used by the people of Courtbrown when going to Mass and school. Another passage which may still be seen, led to Ballysteen quay, through Mr Westropp wood, the old orchard, the old back passage to Mr Westropps house, and finally through Glengoran.

   Before bridges were made the rivers and streams were crossed by means of fords, made of earth and timber planks. A ford was in each of the following places - Issane, Ballincourty and at the "Randy". The little river which flows under the Randy bridge is said to be dividing the parishes of Ballysteen and Askeaton.
