The husband was as flat as a pancake o as black as jet and as dead as a stone in the morning. There were three gentlemen here in Kilfinane and they went over fowling to the Galtee mountains and this night overtook them on the mountain. It was the time of the land war - we had the moon lighters and the agent was boycotted at the time. They came along and they met a lodge and they decided to go into the lodge and stay until clear day. They were there for some time when a low sized old man walked in the door. They knew he was not of this world. He went around by the wall - they were standing in the middle of the floor and when he went around they flew and came home. They told it to the father and he sent to a woman in this place "Kilfinane" that would be likely to give them some information about it. She asked them to describe the man they saw. They said he was thick low set man of about sixty-five years swarthy complexion, piercing black eyes set very far back in his head, black beetling brows and a bushy beard. "Thats enough" said she thats Wiliam Massey, ó ye had a narrow escape.
