“There is an old ruined mill beside a stream (Lyre Glen) in the townland of Longford (Aherlow).”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)hill (Sliabh na Muck) to Brookville. When he reached the top of the hill he looked back and saw the building in flames. It is said that the fire was caused by a lighted candle which was placed o top of an open barrel of tar. Only the walls of the mill now stand but these are still in a pretty good state of preservation. The mill was worked by water from the glen.
Near the old flour mill and close to the same stream are the remains of a tucking mill.
