    the property came into the possession of Count de Salis and as the Church was not registered in the Protestant Diocesan records that nobleman discontinued the appointments of a chaplain and the church has since fallen into decay.
    The Countess of Bath also bestowed on it a rich pulpit cloth and silver chalice together with a paten and Service Book.
    Before the Church fell into decay the Chalice and Paten were removed to Knockainey Protestant Church where they are still to be seen.
    On the Chalice is the inscription “The gift of the Right Hon. Rachel Countess Dowager of Bath to her chapel ann. dom. 1679”

    Others maintain that Count de Salis discovered the Chalice in Genoa and brought it back to Ireland. As regards the foregoing some people maintain that the Church was not built by the Countess of Bath during the reign of Elizabeth but that it was built by
