The food in Ireland has changed completely now compared with what it was long ago. Long ago the food used in Ireland was potatoes. These were used with skim milk and a little salt for a flavour.
In olden times people did not use as much food as they do now. They only ate three meals a day and they consisted of potatoes, salt and skim milk.
Long ago the people used to work before every meal and it made them very health. The people at that time used to cultivate a lot of ground because potatoes was the main food of the people.
Meat was very seldom used at that time. It was used once a week by the rich people and once a year by the poor people. Bacon was the meat that was eaten.
