    After the battle was over
    And the boys had won the day
    A soldier lay on the cold, cold ground
    His lifeblood ebbing away
    One of his comrades heard his moan
    And the sufferer soon was found
    And they tenderly lifted his aching head
    From off the blood-stained ground.

    No longer can I stay
    I'll never more roam
    From my native home
    In Tipperary far away
    Never again down that shady glen
    With a pretty maid I'll stray
    Nor see my sisters and all at home
