    Another typical caher, is that of Kilonahan. One of the best prehistoric monuments in the country. Which we now propose to describe.

Its internal diameter is 54 yards. The wall 14 feet thick, and in places eight feet high. Built of large cobble stones, on a limestone foundation. The entrance, which is in the North, is four feet wide, and the lintel stone for the covering, if it ever had any, is missing. It is rather featureless - due unfortunately like many another ancient monument in the country - to the stones being removed for building purposes, fences and road material.
    Only a few years ago the stones of it would have been completely removed for road material, were it not for the intervention of Mr. Riordan, on whose land it stands. Preventing the vandals from carrying out their intentions. He showed a fine sense of citizenship, in thus preserving it for the nation. it is to be hoped that it will soon be placed
