    Kiloskehan
    The townland of Kiloskehan is situated in the parish of Toomevara It was formerly densely wooded, but most of the trees have now disappeared. There stands there today a ruined castle which was owned and occupied by a wealthy family named Skehan, in Cromwellian times.
    When Cromwell's soldiers were in the district the family removed and hid the treasures which were soon sought by the invaders. The Skehan family refused to tell the soldiers anything about them. Then a gibbet was erected on a nearby tree and eight of the brothers Skehan were hanged one by one. Legends tell us that when that tree was cut down, it bled from every stroke, and that the place itself was called
