Unusual numbers of pismires and midges indicate a break in the weather. If smoke rises perpendicularly from a chimney, it is a very good sign of the weather. When it leaves the chimney horizontally, or when the soot falls heavily, the weather in the immediate future will be anything but good.- Collector
