Parkstown- Palm which is distributed in the churches on Palm Sunday is brought home and placed over the holy water font in the bedrooms. The palm is kept a year and then burned and the fresh palm put in its place. The palm is held in the hand while the long Gospel is being read. Men often wear it on their hats just as they wear shamrock.
