- Elliott had a lot of soldiers, and one night there was an attack made on the soldiers. One man left the district after the attack, and after some time he came back. Elliott arrested him as he suspected he might be in the raid. The man said that he was in company with a man of the Nolans from Heathview, who died after the raid. Elliott ordered the soldiers to lift the man out of the grave as he thought he might have taken part in the raid, and that he died from wounds. He got the body minutely examined and there were no wounds on the body. They put it back in the grave again. That night Elliott went to bed and got a sudden death.
