- A Famous Horse Racing Family
There was a famous family of four brothers named O'Doherty who lived in this neighbourhood one hundred and twenty years ago: one lived in Ballydrehid, one in Kedrah, one in Outrath and the fourth in Lough Kent.
They were noted horsemen and kept race horses which compete in English races.
When taking part in these they carried water from the Kedrah stream (famous for its purity) and Outrath oats for the use of their horses while in England.
The water was carried in barrels tied to the side of the ship across the Channel.
Servants of the O'Doherty family accompanied the horses(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
