"Rounders"
Rounders is a game which was played very commonly in olden times but now it is only played in some parts of the country.
This is how it was played. Four stones were procured and put in the shape of a cross, the distance between two of the opposite stones being twice the length of the distance between the other two. Any number of children could play.
Two teams were called the same as in hurling. One of the far off stones was called the "head", the other was called the "tail". The people at the "head" were the masters of the game and the people at the "tail" were the defenders. A coin was tossed to know which one would have the "head".
A person at the "head" hit the ball in the opposite direction as far as he can(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
