    There is a legend told about the chieftain who lived in Athassell Abbey. It is said he was a very hardhearted man and one day a beggar came to his door and asked him for a drink of water but the chief refused him "You will die of thirst said the beggar. The chief answered him saying " I will not for I shall get all the jugs and vessels in the house filled immediately.
