- The present residence of Mr. Pat Quinlan, shopkeeper and farmer, Cullen Tipperary was once a barrack (time of Fenians). It has been called 'the barrack' up to very recently. It was originally owned by the O'Dwyers - the local landlords who at once time owned the townlands of Cullen & Cloonmanagh.
- Formerly there were two streets in the village - high-street and low street. High street was at one time mainly made of Protestant families and Low street was confined to Catholics. These names are not now used.
- About 300 yards on the Cullen-Emly Road is called Waterlane. This portion of the road was (and still is) subject to severe flooding from the Canal - a stream that was cut out about 200 years ago to drain the bog of Cullen.
