The hens slept in a loft over the entrance door, and those that had eggs were put into a "coop" to lay. When they were putting the hen hatching they used mark the stale eggs from the fresh ones with soot. The goats used to sleep in the smallest room in the house. They used to get stuff in the bogs called "fíonán" and that used to do bedding for the animals.
When a cow died they would hang the bones of the legs under the smoke so that any more would not die. When a person was driving the cows he said, "How" "How". When a pig was being called "Hurish" was said. To a calf "suck" "suck" was said, To the hens "chuck" "chuck". To the turkeys "Bea" "Bea" To the goats "meg" "meg" was said.
