   The following is a list of wild animals to be seen near Ennis; foxes, rabbits, badgers, otters, weasels, rats, mice, hedgehogs, squirrels, blindbats and hares.
   The fox is very cunning. He does great destruction to the farmer. The fox is like the sheep-dog. He usually burrows in a cave under the ground. He kills all the farmer's hens and geese. It is the beagles who usually kill him. Some farmers have guns and they shoot the fox.
   The badger builds his burrow in a big crag with all big rocks in it. He has four or five holes in it. He is very harmful. If he caught hold of your leg go until he would hear the bone cracking; but if you had a stick in your hand and cracked he would think the bone was broken.
   Otters: These are as large as badgers, coloured black and have a fine fur coat which is worth a pound to the man who kills an otter. These animals live in burrows which they dig in the river banks. The entrance to the burrow is
