They take all the manure off the land and make it poor. Some of the weeds smother the crops also.
The weeds that grow in good land are - Dockleaves, práiseach buidhe and Carú Caorach. The weeds that grow in poor land are - feóchadán, Scutch Grass and neantóg.
The name of the weeds and plants that there are cures attached to are -
Yarrow, garlic, cupóg sráide and meacan na caorach.
Yarrow cures rheumatism. Garlic cures swelling of any description. Cupóg sráide cures the burn of a neantóg. Meagan na Caorach cures broken bones. To boil yarrow and drink the juice of it would cure rheumatism. To rub garlic to any swelling would cure it. Some people grow it for the purpose.
