- Long ago the fairs used be held up in the Fair Green until the time of the trouble and since then they are held in the streets.
The evening before the fairs the buyers used go to the country buying cattle.
There is toll collected by Pat McMahon and Patrick Malone six pence a head for milch cows and four pence a head out of young cattle from eight months to two years old.
There is no Earnest given now only the man who sells the cattle gives a luck penny to the buyer such as a shilling to five according to what they pay for the beast.(continues on next page)
