- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Doonogan fort. My grandfather told me that when he was a young lad he used to hear it said that there was a pot of gold hidden in Doonogan fort. The length of a man and a horse and plough from the road. He said that when the Danes were in Ireland they hid their gold there and when they were hunted out of the country they had not time to bring their gold with them. They put a spell on it that no one would ever get it unless three brothers came together to search for it. Long ago, people came from the west to look for it. They had not much dug when they were frightened and had to leave it. If the gold was ever there it is there still.
- It is said by the old people that there is the full of a foal's skin of gold buried in Michael McMahon's land at Maherintaska.
