- At the present time we have many scientific ways of telling what kind of weather we may expect from day to day. We have barometers which indicate by the weight of the atmosphere what kind of weather we are going to have. We have also weather forecasts given in papers and weather forecasts given by radio : Long ago people had no such weather forecasts but by certain signs in the sky and by observing the habits of birds and animals etc. they could predict what class of weather to expect.
The following are a number of signs which they said predicted rain
1 Streamers from the sun
2 A marley sky
3 When the sky is red at sunrise
4 A near hand halo round the moon is far away storm, a far away halo is near hand storm
5. A good Sunday in broken weather is the sign of a wet week
6. Such Friday such Sunday(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
