  1. Forts are common in Ireland, and in this district there is a few. Whether they are fairy forts or not is not known. But however, strange stories are sometimes told about them. Sometimes they are called raths. They are generally in pairs, one outside the other but in view of one another. They are circular in shape and bushes around them. Long ago people say that fairies lived in them.
Forts are used as hiding spots for rabbits, hares and foxes. nobody ever digs them away because they say that it is unlucky to touch them. Most forts are situated in the middle of fields. The farmer never cultivates them when ploughing the field where it is situated. Some people are afraid to pass them on a dark night because it is said that bright lights have been seen among the shrubs and the bushes, and people have heard sweet music inside.
