- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)forge the first thing to attact you is the great big bellows built at the back of the fire. There are several other implements to be seen in the forge too. These are - a boring machine affixed to a bench, a vice affixed to another bench and an anvil sitting on a block of wood.
The tools to be seen are - A sledge and other small hammers, a pincers and a file. There is also a shoeing box, in this are the tools that the blacksmith uses when he is shoeing a horse. The names of these tools are - a rasp, a punch-driver and cutter, a shoeing knife and shoeing hammer. The shoeing hammer has big claws on it and it is with these that the nails that are driven through the horses hoof are broken.
The boring machine is used for boring holes in iron and the vice is for gripping irons and other articles.- Bailitheoir
