    see if the butter is made they look at this glass and if it is clear the butter is made.
    The butter is then taken out of the churn and put in a butter dish and fresh was is put on it so as to wash the milk out of it. Then salt is shaked over it and it is clapped with butter clappers into shapes The farmer uses the buttermilk for the animals. The farmers wife uses it fro baking bread and drinking.
    In Summer butter is made three times a week, and in Winter twice a week.
    Churning generally takes a half an hour and sometimes three quarters.
