It is also told locally that Mass used to be said in one of Mrs Doggett's fields at Tubberfinn, and that the stones of the altar are there still. There was an old well there called the Mass Well.
(Father Byrne used to say the Mass here and he was killed while saying Mass and buried in Donore Churchyard. )
Patrick Lennon (Sgoláire) - It is told that Mass was said on Mr Coddington's Old Bridge Drogheda land during the Penal Days by a Father O'Reilly. One evening while he was out walking he saw the soldiers coming. He ran in all haste to the house of a Catholic man and asked him for his horse. The man gave him the horse and in this way he escaped.

- It is supposed that Mass was said on Mr Mc Cullough's land at Pass Drogheda in the Penal Days by a Fr. Mc Grath. One day he was out walking and he was seen by two spies. The next night the house where he was staying was raided and he was taken out and shot. The next morning his dead body was found and buried in Donore Churchyard.
