- Old Stories of long agoBefore 1798 Dunboyne Chapel was situated at a place called the chapel field on Courthill lands. It was burned by English soldiers but a priest escaped. He was saved by a protestant gentleman named Brasington? (At one time there was a straw hat factory here in Dunboyne "The Place is now called the Barracks Lane. People at that time to go out at night to steal cockfoot seed. They used to thresh it and sell it in Dublin market.from Mr P. Byrne
